Housing/ Nuisance Issues
JBAN works closely with the city’s Code Compliance Department and residents on complaints filed. The City gives us 3 days to rectify a complaint, contact information for property owners is very important. If we do not have the correct contact information for the property owner it most likely would be put into violation so the City can continue the process. JBAN can also help our neighbors who have issues by giving them the resources needed to get repairs done before they receive a formal complaint from the City. If you have a complaint you may either call JBAN at 616.456.9190 or the City at 311.
Litter clean up
Our litter cleanup programs include groups of volunteers joining together to clean up a specific area. For more information please contact the JBAN offices.
We want to help residents beautify their property. We have donated perennials and they are free to any resident in our area. Our Annual Perennial Exchange is held in May (pending weather) and the Annual Flower and Veggie plant distribution will be after Mother’s Day. If you would like to be a part of this either on our committee or as a recipient please call JBAN at 616.456.9190.
Graffiti is a crime; it also creates a “canvas” for others to add to. Speedy removal is imperative. If you are a victim of graffiti you may either call the Graffiti Abatement hotline 616.456.3666 or the JBAN offices where our crime prevention organizer can assist you.
National Night Out
The National Night out is always the first Tuesday in August. It was created to inform citizens about crime prevention and the importance of knowing your neighbors.
Once a year JBAN hosts a cleanup day. You can bring your items to the specified drop off location with identification that you live in the area to dispose of. Only one major appliance per building and hazardous materials such as oil, gas, tires, paint, hot ashes, or acid will not be collected.
